Simple bench power supply

I build this bench power supply from some parts I had lying around. Now, some years later it has proven itself supplying power to a lot of projects.

Inside the plastic box there is just an old toroidal transformer, a bridge rectifier, some bulk capacitance and a Chinese switching power supply module.

I bought this 160 VA transformer at a hamradio flea market. It delivers 4.44 A at 36 V RMS.

Peak voltage is around 51 V

Just an IEC C14 socket on the back side. Yes, I should add a mains fuse here… I already prepared the wire for it…
